The Santa Barbara Presbytery's Impact program is sending its first long term mission interns, 9 month teachers / micro-finance workers to Haiti. Prayers are requested for the four young women who will be teaching school—Elise, Amber, Nikki and Lindsey—that they will teach but also be able to minister to their students. Pray that the students will be naturally drawn to them and respect them. Elise and Nikki are teaching for the first time, so pray for a quick learning curve. Pray for any cultural barriers that may prevent learning, that those will dissolve quickly and God will bring unity in the classrooms. Pray for creativity in teaching in a third-world country and for unity among all the staff at Liberty Academy.
Also, please pray for Kelsea who will be working at the "mission" with the orphans who live there, helping manage incoming short-term teams and doing administrative work at the school. Pray for balance for her, that she would be able to see the kids that she is called to invest in, that Creole will come quickly as her job will be with many locals and for patience as she navigates serving in a few different roles.
Pray for Shala who will be working mostly with the 14 women who were earthquake refugees. Pray that she will build trust quickly, that Creole would come quickly as she will be working directly with these women daily, that her ministry would be effective, life-giving and lasting.
Finally, please pray for the team - for unity, for safety and protection, for patience with one another, for vision and direction, for favor with the Haitian people they are going to serve, for health, for wisdom, for growth, for increased faith, for endurance and for hope.
